Here are a few ways to increase fundraising dollars from a charity golf tournament.

Gift Bags, Loughlin Charity Golf Open
A few weeks ago the Loughlin Charity Golf Open was held. They did a great job making the event fun and exciting – and a revenue driver for the charity. Here are a few things they did to increase revenue:
- Beat the Pro: On one of the holes there was a pro. In this case it was NY State Open Champion, PJ Cowan. Golfers could wager any amount between $10 – $100. If they hit it closer to the pin than PJ they doubled their money and got paid cash on the spot…if they didn’t than it was a donation to the cause. (Ball had to be on the green to win.)
- Double Your Raffle Ticket: The event had a fantastic raffle which took place during the dinner portion of the evening. Golfers could get in on the action and even double their raffle tickets. At one of the holes it was “double your raffle ticket.” Golfers could buy a raffle ticket for $10. If they landed their tee shot on the green they doubled their raffle tickets. If they missed the green they kept the raffle tickets they purchased – but it wasn’t doubled. It was a win/win – and brought in over $2,000!
Have you held a charity golf tournament. What are some things that you did to increase revenue for the charity?

Cynthia Greenberg
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t helping out with a fundraiser or planning a party, whether it was charity leagues in junior high school or fundraisers in high school. I pursued marketing in college as I loved how many exciting roles were covered under one umbrella. It opened the door for me to pursue PR, communications and events. I found a career that is the perfect balance of exactly who I am – creative and detailed. As a public relations and marketing/communications executive with over 15 years of experience, event planning has been at the core of much of my work. I’ve planned everything from a 2,000 person corporate gala to company retreats, charitable auctions and intimate cocktail parties. Event planning is a passion. When I’m not working my day-job as the head of PR/communications, I dedicate my time to the New York Junior League as well as other charitable organizations. (For my full bio, please see LinkedIn.)
