Girl’s 1st Birthday Party: Pink, Purple and Perfect!

Baby Turns 1! Here are Some Great Ideas for a Girl’s First Birthday Party!

I have got to hand it to my friend Janice – she’s quite the hostess with the mostess. In the same week that she hosted Rosh Hashanah she threw a packed-house 1st birthday party for her little princess. And the birthday party was perfect! So many amazing ideas that are easy to do which really brought the party to the next level.

Location: Janice found an in-door kid’s gym a couple blocks from her house. It was easy to transport all the party supplies there and it gave the 20+ kids lots of activities to take part in.

Flow: The first hour of the birthday party was on the gym side of the space. There were balls to play with, mats to jump on, tunnels to crawl through and so much more. Everyone was then moved to the “party” space. There was a buffet for the adult and seating for the kids. The party ended with the birthday girl blowing out her very first birthday cake.

Great Ideas:

  • Janice built off of the existing colors at the facility to make the event more personalized and not so cookie cutter. It was a great idea. Everything flowed together so well. The space had purple on the walls/floors and she worked with it. All the balloons, plates and party elements that Janice brought in were pink, purple and white. It made the event look as seamless as it felt.
  • She made a banner for each month of the birthday girl’s first year. For 1 there was a photo of the birthday girl at the age of one month, and so on. (Amazing idea!)
  • Janice added a centerpiece of various sized glass jars which she filled with pink and purple candy.
  • The birthday cake and cupcakes were also themed with pink and purple swirls and polka dots.
  • There was a fantastic “time capsule” for friends and family to leave messages for the birthday girl to read years and years from now.
  • Birthday favors consisted of a wrapped “Welcome Fall” touch and feel book with a sticker on the front that had a candy and said, “Thank you for making my birthday so sweet.” The sticker matched the invitation – which will match the thank you cards.
  • Tutu…it was fantastic! Janice had a tutu made for the birthday girl matching the colors of the party. The tutu was made by Pink Rock Tutu Boutique - an Etsy shop. It was adorable – and came with a matching hair bow! She also took an adult tutu and wrapped it around the high chair for an added decor element.

All-in-all it was seamless, fun, adorable, and a great first birthday for a baby. Not to mention no clean up!

What ideas do you have for a baby’s first birthday party? Send them in! We’ll do another post recaping the ideas.
