Increase Ticket Sales Through Social Media
Social media can get your event information and link for ticket sales into a wide variety of people’s hands. People you wouldn’t normally be able to reach with just a paper-based invite will be exposed to your event. You can use social media to your advantage to increase ticket sales. Here are a few easy things you can do.
1) Does your organization have a Facebook page? Add your event as a Facebook Event and post it on your personal wall and that of the organization. (If your organization doesn’t have a Facebook page, look into creating one – it’s a great way to market your organization and keeps information flowing.) Once you post your event let your friends and contacts know about it and ask them to share the pages on their Facebook wall. Don’t just post once. As new event updates occur repost on your wall and the wall of your organization. For example do a wall post when ticket sales are ending, promote a band or DJ you are having – basically market your event via the wall. Include links to your event’s ticket sales. Your friends see the event and when they post about it so will their friends and so on.
2) The same goes for Twitter. Tweet about your event on your personal Twitter account and that of your organization. Market what is new and what is happening at the event and why people should attend. Include links to ticket sales. You can also upload photos – such as if you have an auction, upload a photo of a great auction item as a teaser to get people excited for the event.
3) Post your event on online calendars such as Guest of a Guest and CharityHappenings.org. This increases your search engine optimization (SEO), meaning when people Google about your event it will pop up in more places. Not to mention having the event listed in various places means more people see it. Just as is #1 and #2, post the links on your Facebook page and Twitter feed. Again, ask committee members to share these to market the event to their friends and family.
4) LinkedIn is much more business focused that Facebook and Twitter. Use LinkedIn to share links to your event’s information page. It could open the door to need donors as well as new attendees.
5) Blog about your event either on your personal blog, that of your organization, or ask others who are working on the event to blog about it. Blog about what will be at the event, why people who attend and how to get tickets.
