This year marked the 4th annual Jim & Yvette Loughlin Charity Golf Open. What makes this charity golf tournament unique is that each year Jim and Yvette find a new organization in their community to designate the dollars raised to. Last year it was the Junior Welfare League of Huntington, NY. This year’s event benefited the renovation and construction of a new patient care unit at Huntington Hospital.
“We feel that we’ve been blessed and want to give back to our community,” says Yvette Loughlin. “We also want our sons to understand that they have a responsibility to give back to our community as well.”
Held at the Indian Hills Country Club, over 130 men and women golfers turned out for the shotgun start, four-person scramble. During the registration/breakfast hour, attendees could meet Joe Laurentio - 2011 MET PGA Teacher of the Year, and pick up a signed copy of his book.
The buzz during breakfast was the Pick-a-Prize raffle. Attendees could also buy books of raffle tickets and place the tickets in the box coordinating with the raffle they wanted to win. Raffles ranged from a Gucci purse to a golf bag, and so much more. A cocktail reception/dinner with silent and live auction rounded out the evening.
Everyone left a winner!
