For Your Next Book Club Event – Theme The Night Around the Book
As a way to celebrate the first anniversary of our “Reading Between the Wines” book club, we decided to not only read the book and get together for our monthly conversation, but to theme the entire evening around the book.
Our book this month was the 1960′s best-selling Valley of the Dolls. Our theme was 1950′s-1960′s and everything including the food centered around the theme.
It was a fun way to reenergize our book club!
I made a vodka fruit punch with orange sherbet. We served potato chips with onion dip, deviled eggs, pigs in a blanket, Ritz crackers with cheese, mini quiches, melon wrapped with prosciutto, celery stuffed with crab salad, sugar cookies and a fruit tart. I was able to find a candy store that sold vintage candy which we put out. And of course some Mike & Ike’s to represent the “Dolls” from the book.
