The fifth annual Metropolitan Museum of Art Young Members Party took place on Thursday, July 7. Close to 1,500 21-35 year olds, dressed in their summer chic, attended the event and enjoyed a spectacular night of drinking, dancing and artwork. Those not checking out the new Anthony Caro sculpture exhibit on the roof, or touring the Costume Institute’s latest exhibit, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, were in the Petric Court listening to DJ duo AndrewAndrew.
The hosting committee did a great job revising the floor plan from last year. They moved the dancing to the east side of the room and added in another bar area. Rather than walking into the Petric Court and being right on the dance floor, guests were greeted with a number of bars and hostesses passing appetizers and cocktails. This eliminated breaking the main room into two sides, thus enhancing the ability for guests to mingle and move about the space.
This is by far one of my favorite events each summer. The event is only for young members of the Met so get your Apollo Circle membership and we’ll see you there next year!

Where you at the event? What did you think?
